The new plant will be an important site for expanding the company’s industrial engine sales market
On January 28, 2022, Yanmar Engine Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd (YEMI) announced the start of production of industrial diesel engines in a new plant in India.
The 80,000-unit-per-year production facility is located in the Origins Industrial Park in Tamil Nadu, India. The company plans to increase production to 160,000 units. The engines produced at the plant in the power range of 15 to 37 kW will be supplied to markets in India, Europe, the United States and Asia. The new plant’s first priority will be to assemble internal combustion engines for Yanmar tractors and other agricultural and construction equipment manufacturers.
“India is now in a phase of rapid economic growth, so we expect an increase in demand for engines due to the mechanization of agriculture and construction,”
said Varun Khanna, YEMI CEO.
“The new plant will be an important platform to expand the market for Yanmar industrial engine sales. We have been working on its launch for three years, since Nov. 9, 2018,”
notes YEMI Director Hajime Hirai.
To ensure the high quality of its products, the India plant has implemented production and quality control systems similar to those used in Japan. Through the solar panel system with a capacity of 1,380,000 kWh, rainwater harvesting and green planting, the plant will utilize renewable energy, thereby reducing environmental impact.
